Known for her passionate and musical interpretations and impressive technical facility, the Russian pianist Julia Fedoseeva enjoys a varied international career as soloist, chamber musician, and teacher.

Born in Saint Petersburg, she began her studies at the Andreev Music School with Natalia Chernovskaya before continuing to music college and graduating with honors in both her Bachelors and Postgraduate degrees from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in her home city.

Her teachers have included Galina Mitchell, Vladimir Shakin (piano), Grunia Gankina (piano duo), and Elena Semishina (chamber music). She has complemented her studies by taking masterclasses with Vitaly and Yuri Margulis, Alexander Vitlin, Andreas Groethuysen, Yaara Tal, and Alexander Bonduriansky.

Julia has performed recitals and concerti in the major cities of Russia, and regularly enjoys playing in the best concert halls of Saint Petersburg (Philharmonic Hall, Capella, Glazunov Hall). She has also performed throughout Europe in Holland, Portugal, France, Germany, Sweden, and the UK.

In 2003, she was chosen and invited to give a solo recital for President Bush and his family during the US President's State visit to Russia.

As concerto soloist, Julia has worked with many conductors such as Ravil Martinov and with orchestras including the Saint Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra. Her chamber music partners have included Alexander Sitkovetsky, Kirill Timofeev, Marlene Hemmer, Judith Wijzenbeek, Matthew Midgley, Lyubov Hatina, Maria Skriabina, Albert Barbeta, and Richard Harwood.

In 2002, Julia formed a piano four hands and two pianos partnership with Tatiana Brizheneva. Called "Ju-s-Ta", they primarily focus on the repertoire available for two pianos which has culminated in a number of successful and critically acclaimed programmes and performances in Saint Petersburg, Dusseldorf, and Munich, including the Russian premiere of Germaine Tailleferre's Jeux de plein in 2008.

Throughout her career, Julia has won and been the recipient of many awards. In 1997, she was a special prize recipient in Jurmala, Latvia. Four years later, she and violinist Diana Gagulashvili took Grand Prix overall winner and First Prize of the International "Coast of Hope" Competition in Bulgaria. As Ju-s-Ta, Julia and Tatiana won first prize at the Maria Udina Piano Duo Competition in Saint Petersburg. Most recently, in 2009, they won second prize at the A.G. Bahchiev Russian Piano Duo Competition in Vologda.

Julia combines her performing schedule with a passion for and commitment to teaching. She has a large and talented chamber music class at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory's Special School for Gifted Children and is an assistant teacher on the faculty of the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. Her young students are already achieving great successes at important competitions throughout Europe, including first prizes at the 2008 Charles Hennen Concours, Holland and at "In Corpere", the 2009 International Youth Chamber Music Festival Competition in Tallinn, Estonia.

Future concert plans include a series of performances for two pianos, duo recitals with cellist Richard Harwood, and chamber music collaborations with the Gringolts and Anima Quartets.

In 2009, Julia can be seen and heard in Phil Grabsky's new documentary In Search of Beethoven which received its theatrical premiere at the Barbican Theatre, London and broadcast premiere on Sky Arts (UK).
